Honoring Our Ancestors

                           WELCOME TO

         ALLISON WOODS LIVING HISTORY!

               September 17, 18 & 19, 2010

Allison Woods located in Statesville, North Carolina is pleased to announce it’s 9th Annual Living History Weekend.

Deep in the heart of scenic Allison Woods in Statesville, North Carolina, the past comes alive for one weekend every year! Dedicated re-enactors from across the United States bring a passion for historical accuracy to their portrayal of military and civilian life throughout three centuries of American history. The unique timeline format of this event lets visitors explore the evolution of warfare at their own pace. It honors the challenges, courage, victories and heartaches of those who believed no sacrifice was too great for the cause of freedom!

Explore historically accurate encampments for the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War II and Vietnam War. Be on hand to witness a World War II battle re-enactment with original armored vehicles. Feel the ground rumble when authentic cannons fire and cavalry charge into the fray  during a Civil War battle re-enactment. Chat with costumed re-enactors portraying famous and not-so-famous individuals from our past. Take the chilling and poignant Lantern Tour -- a guided walk through the night which puts you in the heat of the conflict. Shop Sutlers Row for a unique souvenir, bring your appetite for mouth-watering food and try to resist the temptation to tap your feet to the lively sounds of music from another era. This is an event with something for everyone!

Mark your calendars for September 18 & 19, 2010. A special School Day event for students is scheduled for Friday, September 17 by reservation only.

Among the region's earliest pioneers, the Allison Family has inhabited and cherished this pristine landscape since the mid-1700's. Today visitors can enjoy woods, waterways and meadows still teeming with natural wonders. The estate hosts public and private events in its historic buildings and on its beautiful landscape for businesses, civic groups, weddings, filming videos and other occasions.
