Howdy from the thriving metropolis of De Queen, Arkansas. Back in September of this year (2009) I made my second trip to Statesville, N.C. for the Allison Woods Living History Re-enactment. I was able to arrive a couple of days early and help in a small way. I really enjoyed getting involved with the school days. As a college history instructor I am convinced that re-enactments like this one are a huge part of keeping America's history alive. Of all the events that took place this year my favorite was the tribute to our Vietnam veterans at the end of the Lantern Tour. I already have plans in the making for a return in 2010. A GREAT BIG thank you to Selena and Dennis Goodin and everyone else involved with the Allison Woods Living History Re-enactment. Hope to see y'all in September!.
TOM ALLISON says... hI, i am an Allison researching genealogy which I have traced back to Statesville (4th Creek Settlement) in the 1750s. Do you have any info on how Allison Woods got its name?

Great website. I am a member of the N-SSA, and visit your area 4-5 times a year for the skirmishes held at Allison Woods. Always have a great time, the area is beautiful.
greetings to those who do a great job at bringing the history to life. i myself am born in statesville n.c. 1960 and all my life i never knew anything about it being a confederate state since 1861. my family never said one word to me its as if they are trying to keep me from knowing the truth. and now am searching my family history from that area so i hope to make some contact with someone who can lead me to someone to help me on how to find out who is who in my my family history to save it from being lost forever. i never even knew i was part of a confederate now i know and have come to accept who i am and where i come from, i am okay with it i am located in hawaii and going home to statesville very soon and would love to be a part of it, no matter what anyone says it will be fun for me to learn more about our people from that time period...... keep up the awsome work
