ALLISON WOODS Living History & Reenactment

Honoring Our Ancestors

Allison Woods Living History &

 Reenactment

Statesville, North Carolina

September 17th, 18th & 19th, 2010

Greetings!

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your unit to the 9th Annual Living History & Reenactment Weekend being held at Allison Woods in Statesville, North Carolina on September 17th, 18th & 19th, 2010.

Allison Woods is approximately 1000 acres of pristine woods, streams and trails, wonderful for horses or walking. There is also a pond with fish, so bring your fishing pole! We offer shaded campsites with lots of room for children to play along with a fine Sutler row for any extras you might need or want!

Reenactors are expected to provide displays and activities of a working military installation and to interact with our visitors. Some of the things our Civil War event will offer is a Saturday and Sunday battle, as well as all of the normal amenities, (hay for horses, portable toilets, firewood, and water buffaloes). Ice and straw will be for sale onsite.

CONFEDERATE COMMANDER: JOHN BAUCOM

FEDERAL COMMANDER: JERRY PARSONS

In order to lower the  registration fees this year...it was decided NOT

to provide a meal...but Billy Sheally will be onsite

as well as two other vendors offering food at very

reasonable prices.  We are sorry for this change,

but since our county has cut all funding for non-profits

this year, we decided we would rather lower registration

fees than offer the meal this year. We hope to be

able to resume that amenity next year!

Hopefully as a way to compensate you for this, we will have the Lantern Tour

again this year, but with a different twist. The WWII reenactors have agreed

to provide the entertainment for the public for the Lantern Tour so that we

might be able to provide the Civil War reenactors with a Dance/Social.

Powder bounties for the first three Confederate and first three Federal artillery units will be given.

There will also be plenty of music, food and fun! We will have an 1860’s fashion show, Sunday morning period worship service, workshops, demonstrations, and children’s activities not to mention our Civil War BINGO game that everyone of all ages enjoy!

This year we will once again offer in addition to our normal Civil War reenactment and living history  – a living history event that will feature a military timeline to include all wars of the United States. This should be a wonderful treat for School Days on Friday, the 17th. There will also be two battles on Saturday and Sunday. We need, and welcome your help as we honor our ancestors and the wars they were a part of.

Proceeds from this event go toward the restoration and preservation of the Historic Vance House Museum in Statesville, North Carolina. Please help us as we try to save this wonderful piece of history!

This event has been growing steadily the past four years and we hope that you will consider making it a part of your 2010 schedule! For an event packet with registration papers, you can request them three ways.
